Me: I'd like to take a few days off for vacation. I'd like Thanksgiving week but am flexible. (this way they have someone to fill in for me) Work: When do you want? Me: Thanksgiving week is good but if not available than I can pick another time. (ummm, didn't I just mention some dates?) Work: What dates do you want and I can see if it's available. Me. Ok, how about Thanksgiving week (Monday through Wednesday and I have Thursday and Friday off as a holiday already)? Work: Nope, That's not available, how about M-W the next week?
