So I finally got the TV, hung it up, set it up, etc. Well, there's something missing that I assumed would work. It doesn't have a Sling TV app and there's no way to add it. Vizio wants me to Cast from my phone. NO! It's also missing other apps that we want. This smart TV is still stupid. I wanted to get away from the having to deal with a Roku and a separate TV remote, just for the power button. I'll see about another make now. Probably one with Roku built in. Then I'll return this one. That process better be smooth. Aggravated, I am.

COX is really sucky this weekend. I get home and it's super slow. Then I find there's an "outage in my area". ETA for repair 5:30. Checking after 5:30 the ETA was moved to 11pm. Now, at almost 4am the ETA is 4:30am. I wonder what it's going to be in a half hour.

Facebook screwed up my photo albums. When I do a month album I usually set the date YEAR and MONTH. Since it's for the month I don't pick a date. With my latest album, (June 1975) Lisa noticed that the date was May 31, 1975. Well, I go back a few albums and the dates are correct for that album. I noticed that October 1973 (posted July 31, 2018) is correct and November 1973 (posted August 2, 2018) is WRONG. Sometime in that short period, Facebook screwed things up.

So I brought my car to Firestone to get a tire leak fixed ($20) and tires rotated (free since the tires were from them). It only took 2 hours. On the way home I noticed a little vibration that wasn't there before and was thinking it was just from the tires being swapped around. I get home, go inside, get some trash to throw away, come outside and notice that my hood wasn't closed all the way. Seems like when they went to inspect my battery, for whatever reason, they didn't close the hood all the way. It's a good thing it didn't unlatch while I was going 70 on the interstate and that the vibration was from the hood flopping around a little. This is one reason I like to do things myself. Last time I went to rotate the tires a stud popped because they cross threaded a nut on it. I still want to check my brake wear and I hope the nuts aren't crossed again. That will wait for a cool weekend.

Well, I finally bit the bullet and ordered a new mower. Sears had one for $100 off and about $200 FREECASH in Points deal. So, with tax, it's $284 and I can use those Points to order something else that I might need. Like a decent socket set, drill/impact, etc Why get a new mower when they one I have is only 13 years old? I know, right. You'd think they'd make something to last 100 years nowadays. Nah, after 13 years of neglect and abuse it's been giving problems like rust, the belt jumping off, tires going balder than me, etc. Plus I'm sure it needs an oil change, air filter, spark plug, gas cap, and a new blade. That alone might be over $50. Probably close to $100. Why by from Sears when they might go bankrupt tomorrow? Well, it was a good price/deal and Sears really doesn't make anything. They get a company to make it and they just stick their name on it. From what I see there are really only TWO manufacturers of lawnmowers, MTD and Agri-Fab. So, I don't expect parts availability to be a problem. Now that the grass is cut, with the old mower, it's time for a shower, lunch and grocery shopping.

The lawnmower isn't being my friend today. Not only did it have a hard time keeping running (probably from bad old gas) but I think the belt jumped off again while I was halfway through with the front. You know it's a Monday when yo go to work, the forklift won't start, you get it jumped, do some work, come back to the forklift, have to jump it again, hook up the battery pack, let it sit for a minute, come back and see a little smoke coming from the battery pack. Of course there was a freight truck and contractor waiting along with a system that is so awkward to work with. Getting sick and tired if this place.

We heard some noises outside the house last night and I went to check it out. Ends up a stray kitten was in the yard and went next door when I went to investigate. Soooo, later, when we are getting ready to go to sleep, Liam here's the Mew Mew outside and goes crazy. It took him a good while to settle down. About 1:30 my bladder wakes my up and when I get back in bed I check the time on my phone. I'm not sure if it's coincidence or not but I hear a Mew Mew and Liam goes crazy again. He'll be in high alert for the next few days and I keep telling him that we can't adopt a new pet for him to play with. Sleepy.

Ok. My sister had some more slides scanned and I'll be sharing them eventually. She also had some 8mm movies scanned to digital. Most of the movies are strange and have to be before I was around. Here's why I think that. 1. I'm not in most of them. I seriously don't think I was doing the filming. 2. My mom said some were of my parents' honeymoon in Florida. But why are there monkeys along a river in Florida where they also had a wild west shootout and cable car ride? 3. There are movies of what is either, men playing baseball in dresses or very ugly women playing baseball. 4. One of the videos that I think I am in features my sister walking around. But she's walking around like she's drunk. She also had a broom and dustpan. Did my parents drug us when we were wee bits old and make us do child labor? Hopefully, some mysteries will be solved in the future.

From about 8-Noon today I was working on Lisa's car. When I went to take it for a test drive I had to move my car out of the way. That's when I noticed my battery was dead. Soooo, we go get lunch and a battery. it was about to pour anyway. Much hours and dollars late I think we have two cars that run and cool. Now to relax/pass out for the rest of the day after taking some Advil. That's right, I do the hard stuff.

A holiday Friday should be relaxing. Not for me though. So far I had Southeastern, Averit, FedEx Freight, two contractors, and a truck to pickup empty reels (while it was raining). Now I think I just heard Amerigas backing up. How am I supposed to nap with all this going on? Luckily I only have about an hour left.

Blue Origin's rocket launch was nice and it's nice to be closer to having more competition in space. But, I still like SpaceX's launchcast better. The only rocket camera I noticed was during separation and it wasn't great quality. And these are two different approaches to space flight. SpaceX is more for supplies and eventually getting into deeper space while Blue Origin seems to be just focused on "space tourism" where you can spend lots of money to see for yourself that the Earth is round. Anyway, best of luck to both ventures.

Thanks, everyone for the birthday wishes but whew, what a weekend. Friday was dinner at Dot's Diner in Luling with Lisa. Saturday was a bunch of leftovers from Easter and dinner at Seither's in Harahan with Lisa and Diana Rhiannon. Today was lunch at Randazzo's Family Restaurant in Metairie with the aforementioned two plus my mom and sister. No need to eat anything tonight because I'm still stuffed from a Cuban Reuben, leftovers, about 4 pounds of crawfish, a po'boy, and a tuna and pasta meal. I'll be afraid to jump on the scale in the morning. Oh, how could I almost forget about the slice of apple pie?

Is it me or does it seem that most of Nicolas Cage's movies deal with missing kids, vampires/ghosts, the occult, kissing and/or Las Vegas? "Pay the Ghost" has at least 3.

OK. This has been bugging me for a bit now. According to the movie "Gremlins" you aren't supposed to feed them after midnight. With Daylight Saving Time just happening this is what's bugging me. Do the "gremlins" know about this? What about areas that don't have DST? What about when the feds changed the dates? Time Zones, etc? If it's safe in one part of the world and you take one halfway around the world would NOON be the cutoff time?

Rough afternoon. Lisa and I went and had our cat put down. She got him before we got together which was over 16 years ago. His health was declining and we decided it was time before he got worse. After having 4 dogs when I was a kid this was the first pet I was with when the time came. He went peacefully and hopefully isn't too mad at us and understands. It'll take time for the three of us (me, Lisa and Liam) to get used to not having him around.

Last weekend I added some 2x4's from a pallet to another pallet. That turned it into a simple table. Today I used that table to work on the lawnmower. We got it way back in 2005 when we moved in. After over 17 years of neglect it's still running. Yeah, it could use a new drive belt, air filter, spark plug, front wheels, blade and body. But I was able to get the front clovers and weeds cut. Last year the drive belt would jump off the main pulley and it'd be hard to push. Being so old some of the bolts wouldn't come loose and I just dealt with it. Until today. Even though the belt feels loose I hope it holds on another summer. It barely has any pull to it. The main rust spot was under the belt cover and I was able to patch that up with some aluminum and hopefully that will keep debris from getting in there. I might get the back cut today also. Ha, who am I kidding? After this and laundry I think I'm done for the day.

Kept hearing noise outside that sounded like running water. Our dog wanted to go out so I used that as an opportunity to check the noise out. Yup, there was a running water sound from the side of the house. Our yard was flooded and I walked through it to make sure it wasn't our pipes. Nope, neighbors pipes in their out building. I called them and they weren't home but was able to shut their main off. Feet are still cold and I need sleep. Alarm at 5am. Yeah me.
