Yesterday I found that the one day of vacation I had left would not carry over to next year and i would lose it. So I decided to that it in the 31st. Last night I started catching a cold and left work at two today. Eyes burn, throat sore, runny nose, etc. I'm falling apart at the end of the year. Resting in bed now. Not even hungry. Good things are that I don't have work till next year and when I do I'll have an extra weeks vacation to take!

The campgrounds are still nice. Kinda lost a little charm over the years though.
Leaving Saturday night and driving till noon-ish Sunday followed by a quick visit to Downtown Disney, or whatever it was called yesterday, while the cabin was getting prepared made last night a night of rest and falling asleep around 8. Factoring in a time change doesn't help. But what does is sleeping till 9 on a Monday and enjoying a trail mix bar and juice in beautiful weather knowing you don't have work to go to. FUCK YOU MONDAY I'M AT DISNEY!

What a weekend. Spent Saturday getting ready for and attending a wedding and Halloween party. Lot's of fun. Great time. Sunday was listening to downpours and trying to get somethings done at mom's new house. Out of about 5 projects I probably got the 2 smallest ones done. Stupid Murphy and his stupid law. Then tonight was watching The Walking Dead. No spoilers here but OH BOY. I can't believe they killed **********!!!!! Or did they? Now I have to try and get some sleep between tornado warning sirens and updates. Maybe the rain let up and the rain phobic dog will go pee.

This past week killed me at work so I had to take a day off and sleep the day away. But, we did Halloween costume shopping just now. Spirit Halloween has an online "flash" sale today with 20% off. So we did that. lol Also went to the post office to mail a package that I've been neglecting for the past few weeks. Having the PO close around 4pm doesn't help also. Hard to work and do mailing.

In the process of cleaning and finding things I came across some old gift cards. While checking their balances (most had some $ left) I went to check the Radio Shack card. Of course the way radio Shacks works it makes no wonder that they are going the way of the Blockbuster. In order to check a RS card (not sure how old this one is) you have to call a toll free number. Sooooo, I called 1-888-609-4620. I think one of Drum Bot bit buddies had taken over the number. Call it and see if you can figure it out.

Two changes I'd like to make at my work. 1. When someone turns in their greensheet papers and MTRs are needed they should be printed ASAP, not a day later after we get our trucks all loaded up and a problem is found. (I had to wait over an hour for this today making me leave the warehouse at noon instead of between 10-11) 2. Manager should stay at the warehouse until all drivers are in. (This would make them want changes to be made and help the drivers get out and back at reasonable times instead of returning at 6pm like I did today. Regular quiting time is 4:30) Rant over. For now.

It's Monday. Head/neck still hurt for unknown reason. Resting didn't help, Advil didn't help, massage helped for a little but it's still back. Head bone connected to the neck bone sore with eye pain and occasional upset stomach. Yeah Mondays. I'm sure I'll have plenty work for me to get worse.

Checked a car enthusiast message board. "Engine oil wont drain! Help! Im doing an oil change on my 04 corolla with 120k miles. The engine is hot from going to the store to get oil and filter. I opened up the engine oil cover and dipstick. I jacked up the car, removed the old oil filter.. only a small amount of oil came out and nothing else is coming out. The dipstick says its full... the engine oil is hot... i tried leveling the car back down, but still nothing..." Please people. If you're going to do something that you aren't familiar with do a little research first. At least they didn't drain and refill the tranny with engine oil like I've seen some people do.

Nobody electrocuted as I installed a new bathroom vanity light. Only needed two trips to Home Depot. One for the light and one for the Old Work wall box to mount it to. Next up will be the medicine cabinet. Lisa already got the wall painted pretty. Then remove the brass faucet and replace it with a brushed nickel faucet to match the light. I know, it never ends. But at least I got the cable working in both rooms. I think a port in my Uverse router box is the problem.

I woke up this morning feeling like crap, aching all over. Lay back down hoping Advil might help. When I get up to call in to work I'm sweaty. For some reason I check the thermostat which is always set at 76 and find out that it's completely DEAD. Now I'm aching, it's the middle of summer, the central A/C is out, and I JUST returned the emergency window unit to the shed last weekend. How much more straw can this camel handle?

Any interest in TWO TiVo's? Both are Standard Definition Series 2's with added hard drives and LIFETIME subscriptions. 3 remotes in total. I haven't used them in a couple of years but I'm pretty sure they work. IF there's interest I'll check them out and get more info about them.

While cleaning out moms house my sister came across our old VIC-20 along with it's tape drive. I wonder if it still works. I wonder what else was with it. I think I sold/gave away my C-64, floppy, 300 baud modem and printer years ago. Maybe I'll get a Commodore PET smart phone when it comes out.

It's amazing how we spend about 9 months trapped in a 98.6 degree "room" but now we spend 2 minutes walking to our car in the middle of the day we feel like we're going to die. Bring on that mini-ice age!!!
Seems like the little old lady is on her last leg. She's wobbly, can't see good, has a glaze in her eyes, whiney from possible pain, one foot was swollen. She's lived a long life though.

So I filed my state income taxes back in what, April? Since I got the new A/C that is supposed to be tax rebateable or whatever I sent in what was required. A few months ago I got a letter saying that it was under review, blah, blah, blah and it might take 90 days. Today I got a letter saying that they need: "Proof of purchase, ARRA compliance letter (etc), detailed item listing showing all each part installed, quantity of each part and the price of each art. Do this in 30 days and we will think about giving you some money. Other than that you're fucked." Not exact wording but close enough. Now I have to call the A/C people and tell them to get this shit straight.

I'll be at my moms this weekend and helping with the move. That will involve getting rid of some stuff. I'm pretty sure my sister is going to get rid of a bunch of VHS tapes or recorded TV shows. Not sure what's on the tapes yet but I think there might be some Dr. Who, Blake's 7, etc type stuff. I'm not going to hold them for people so be on the look out for a "Curb Alert" from me. I'll give some notice before it's actually going to the curb. But once it's to the actual curb it's free game to all.

My mom is selling her house and it looks like she's got a buyer. Sooooo.... that means that whatever I have over there either needs to move to our house, get thrown away, or finds a new home. I haven't gone through everything in a while but I know I have a few things that someone might like. 1. Big ol' Sony Beta recorder. I haven't plugged it in in years but the last time I did it worked with minor tweaking. 2. Some X-10 stuff from years ago. If you know what it is then you might be interested. If you don't then don't worry about them. 3. Thick gauge wire for powering car amps. I forget the gauge but its for big amps. Ground and power. 4. Maybe something else but only if I could get some good money out of it. Will have to see what all I have for it and calculate a price. I'll post more when I find out more.

Yesterday was the last day for four people at work. We had a driver, a warehouse worker and two sales people retire. Hopefully this second half of the year goes smoothly at work since the company isn't hiring people to replace them. But that shouldn't matter for sales since they already had replacements in the works for months. Sure the remaining workers can handle the extra workload thrust upon them especially in the brutal heat. It's not hard to get a 2,000 pound/50 item order ready in an hour, trying to not get heat stroke or exhaustion while we see someone in an airconditioned office play pocket pool while said person yells at his manager about how we are doing things wrong and he can do so much better. We can relax while we are bouncing around in the trucks that might have decent A/C.

New compressor is in the A/C and seems to be working. Hopefully this is the last repair for decades. Of course it could have been repaired faster but they had to go run and get a tubing cutter. I'm not sure if they just had an old one or if they didn't have one at all but that's an important tool to have with you when doing that line of work. Fingers crossed that this week from hell is over now and I can relax for a change.

The A/C guys got to the house before I could get some to make sure they put the temp window unit in correctly. Like how could they screw that up, right? The cheap, sub $150, unit was dropped in the window and plugged in. They at least put some cardboard on one side of the unit where the accordion wings should have been. Yup, no hardware was installed to make sure it doesn't fall out. It was also most of the way IN the window and would probably drip on the window sill overnight. I know that it's only supposed to be for one night but still....... Hopefully by this time tomorrow the house will be chilly again.

I'm finishing off these Big Wave Golden Ale Hawaiian beers and each cap has some Hawaiian words and English translations.The last one I had was 'Aka' aka which means To Laugh. Makes me thinks Popeye visited Hawaii. Others were: Kolohe - Rascal Slippahs - Flip Flops Rajah Dat - I agree P^a 'ina - party Keiki - Child I question a couple of these as being authentic words and not 20th century American slang.

Does anyone remember, have link to info on, etc back in the mid1990's I believe it was, a woman's body being run over along Chef Hwy (Hwy 90) near Powers Junction? She was already dead before she was run over. I know it was a long time ago but I remember knowing the guy that ran her over. If I remember correctly his name was Alvin and he hung out with some peeps in the East and Chalmette. I know it's been 20 years or so but with the bodies of two young women being found on the interstate recently makes me wonder.
Does anyone remember, have link to info on, etc back in the mid1990's I believe it was, a woman's body being run over along Chef Hwy (Hwy 90) near Powers Junction? She was already dead before she was run over. I know it was a long time ago but I remember knowing the guy that ran her over. If I remember correctly his name was Alvin and he hung out with some peeps in the East and Chalmette. I know it's been 20 years or so but with the bodies of two young women being found on the interstate recently makes me wonder.

Worn out from the unexpected fun these past few days. Lisa and I grabbed some crawfish with a friend of hers and daughter after work. Today was a trip to the French Quarter where we didn't go to the Oyster Fest but still enjoyed our time there dodging the rain and having a few drinks in an almost empty Oz. We didn't stay for the drag bingo though and opted for some food. Or fun ended after a nice meal at Oceana Grill on Conti. After coming home a pretty much crashing in the chair for an hour it's time to watch some HOCKEY!!!

Yesterday Lisa drove her car to the Wank so we could carpool to the Rush show. On the way back she was talking about how her car drove when she first got it. As I was passing over Manhattan Blvd on the elevated expressway I was like, "Oh, we forgot about your car." and we saw it was still there so we decided to get it today. Since we needed to eat something we decide to eat at Texas Roadhouse and then get the car. Food was good, etc. On the way out a few bikers were walking in. Lisa didn't want me to tell them to behave for some reason.

I work my ass off today to try and relax after work for the company crawfish boil. Ok, they really just buy bags from Sal's and hand them out. BUT it was free and tasty. I come home and notice the house felt warm. Maybe it's me from eating the little critter. After a while I notice the A/C is constantly running, AGAIN. Checking the temp at the closest register it's reading around 70 degree. When it was working properly it was around 62. The other week they had to come out and, eventually, replaced the expansion valve. This is on a system that was installed in December. "It's hard to stop a Trane."??????? I think mine was made by Amtrak.

I have a question that's got me thinking for a long time. In science fiction stories everyone seems to have the technology to fly in space, make artificial gravity, do warp speed, etc. Robots and droids are everywhere. Technology is sooooooo damn advanced. But why do humans pilot space ships? You'd think that with us, in the present, can have self driving cars that people of the future could have self piloting space ships. Starship Troopers got me to thinking about this again.

I did my good deed for the year. On our way home this evening I noticed a small fire in front of a credit union on Airline. Seeing it was some mulch in front the ATM area and probably not having a real chance of reaching the building I still decided to call 911 to have it put out. After just a little bit the fire engine came by and put it out. Simple little fire that was probably started by some asshole dropping a lit cigarette butt could have really turned into something much bigger. I wish smokers wouldn't litter like that and would put their cigarette butts where they belong. Up their own butts that is. Now to be evil for the rest of the year. MWAHAHAHAHA

Hawkeye is now a Patriots mascot. The Hulk was picked up by the Browns. Tom Benson was in the Veterans party drinking scene. Ultron was played by Roger Goodell. and Scarlett Johansson was in the movie doing something.

I've been watching Daredevil this weekend. I like the new "format" that Netflix has. The whole season released at once turns what what could have been a 2 hour concentrated movie or maybe worse a 13 episode, made for broadcast TV, season that would be hard to follow because they break for holidays and have re-runs, commercials, etc. into basically a 13 hour movie that can have deep character and plot development .

It's been awhile since I work on a TV. Besides a monitor this is my first flat panel. lol Not much in them now. Power supply, main board, inverter board, display, some small boards for input and buttons. That's about it. This TV is a low end 32" with just blue power light when "turned on". All power supply voltages seem to be correct so I'm assuming it's the main board. Of course I can't find anyone that has them in stock and the boards are like $100 for a TV that is probably under $200 new. It's a throwaway world. If only we could do that with politicians.

While waiting for a parking spot at Walmart a truck almost backed right into the right side of my car. If I hadn't laid on the horn who knows what damage that monster would have done to my little car. And it wasn't like I had just pulled up behind the truck, I was there for close to a minute waiting for the other cars driver to take her time getting in the car and back out.

Sooooooo. I needed to use the truck that broke on me a few weeks ago spewing oil all over the engine. It worked OK, besides the air conditioner not working much, until I got to my last stop. That's when I was going to go into the plant and it wouldn't start. More I have to edit for a tow truck. No April fools joke here.

So, to celebrate St. Patricks Day I worked like an Irish slave, had dinner at Wendy's (she's got to be Irish with that red hair) and drank a Guinness Extra Stout (that was brewed in Canada). Ok, work wasn't that hard today, I should have ordered a potato instead of chili and the Guinness isn't my cup of tea.

I've been thinking of doing a video podcast (modern day form of a DIY TV show) about drinking and card playing. The main part of the show would be talking about adult beverages while people play poker in the background. I figure to call it, "Liquor in the front. Poker in the Rear."

Last night I hit the bed around 7. Slept till 10-ish. Today ran some errands, repaired fence, again, and cut down more of the sick maple tree. All that's left of it is the dead part. That will have to wait till another weekend. I guess tomorrow will be a day of rest for me.

Went to company function last night. Ate too much food. Open bar. Only beer was Coors Light draft. Sipped on two. BLAND Got to bed later than usual. Tired this morning. Heated up Breakfast Hot Pocket for breakfast. Took shower. Going to make sandwich for lunch I couldn't find the plate I used for breakfast. Oh, it's still in the microwave with my breakfast on it. TGIF!!!
